The first electric streetcars in San Francisco began operation in 1892, eleven years after the iconic San Francisco cable cars were introduced. At that time, it was estimated that it cost twice as much to build and six times as much to operate a line with cable cars as with electric streetcars.
A Time To Be Great
July 23, 2010Standing Tall
June 8, 2010There were over 1400 flags there that day. I was told it took only an hour and a half for the volunteers to put them up that morning.
Remembered
June 8, 2010This gentleman was among the crowd of folks listening to the keynote speaker talk about our countries history and values in America. I couldn’t resist capturing the many years visible in his face. You could almost feel the things he must have been feeling that day.
Red, White, and Blue
June 8, 2010I captured these at the Festival of Flags event in Ferndale Washington on Memorial Day 2010. It was an amazing day of color, memories, and respect. I took many shots that day. These are some of my favorites. You can see the rest on my gallery page at http://gallery.shawnrobins.com/Community
Joseph
April 26, 2010This is Joseph. He is quite the serious little man. It was a bit of a challenge to get this shot as he didn’t want to give it up.
Work ‘Till Dawn
March 9, 2010I saw this smoke stack from a distance on my way home last night. All I could see from the road was the column of steam without the building above some trees. The way the light lit up the steam made it look like the building was on fire. I had to investigate and thought It might make a great twilight shot. I took this with about a 20 second exposure which is why the steam is so smooth.
